Terms of Service
Effective October 16, 2026.
These Terms are offered by Sortie Research, the operator of this site ("Sortie Research", "we", "us").
These Terms govern your use of the Sortie Research website, dashboards, charts, newsletters and any related services (the "Service"). By joining the waitlist, creating an account, subscribing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you are using the Service for an organization, you confirm you can bind that organization to these Terms.
1. What the Service is
Sortie Research publishes analysis and charts about flight activity of companies working on aircraft autonomy and advanced air mobility. We build them from publicly broadcast aircraft position data (ADS-B), public registries and our own research. The Service is analysis and commentary. It is not a raw data feed, and it is not investment advice (see section 8 and our Investment Disclaimer).
2. Accounts and access
- You must be at least 18 and provide a valid email address.
- Sign-in uses a one-time code sent to your email. Keep access to your email account secure. You are responsible for activity under your account.
- Subscriptions are for the named individual (or the number of seats purchased). Do not share login access.
3. Subscriptions, billing and auto-renewal
- Paid plans are not available yet. When they are, they will be billed in advance, monthly or annually, at the price shown at checkout. Prices may change for future billing periods with advance notice.
- Auto-renewal: your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period for the same length, and your payment method will be charged, until you cancel.
- Payments will be processed by our payment processor (Stripe). We do not store your full card number.
4. Cancellation
You can cancel at any time from your account settings. Cancellation stops future renewals. Access continues until the end of the current paid period.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Redistribute or resell the Service's charts, analysis, datasets or alerts, in whole or in part, or make them available to anyone who is not a licensed user.
- Scrape, crawl, bulk-download or otherwise extract content by automated means, or bypass rate limits or access controls.
- Use the Service to build a competing product or dataset.
- Use the Service to track, harass or locate any individual person, or for any unlawful purpose.
- Reverse engineer the Service or interfere with its security or operation.
6. Intellectual property
- The Service, including its charts, text, analysis, software, design and the "Sortie Research" name and logo, belongs to Sortie Research or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws.
- We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to view and use the Service for your own internal research during your subscription.
- Third-party data: parts of the underlying data come from adsb.lol and are made available under the Open Database License (ODbL) v1.0. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under the ODbL for that data. See the attribution notice in our Investment Disclaimer and the site footer.
- If you send us feedback, we may use it without obligation to you.
7. Data accuracy and limitations
The Service is provided for information only. In particular:
- Coverage gaps: ADS-B is received by volunteer ground stations. Coverage is incomplete, especially at low altitude, over water and in remote areas. Aircraft that are not broadcasting are invisible to us.
- Minimum observed hours: flight hours and counts are the minimum observed in the data. Real activity is usually higher.
- Company links: links between an aircraft and a company come from public registries and our research. Some links are unconfirmed. We label them, and they are excluded from headline figures unless stated otherwise.
- Opted-out aircraft: we exclude aircraft whose owners have asked not to be publicly tracked, so some activity is not shown.
- Data may be delayed, revised or corrected without notice. We do not guarantee that any information is accurate, complete or current.
8. Not investment advice
Sortie Research is not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer or financial planner. Nothing in the Service is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any security, or an offer or solicitation. Do your own research and consult a qualified professional before making investment decisions. See the full Investment Disclaimer.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SORTIE RESEARCH WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, TRADING OR INVESTMENT LOSSES, OR LOSS OF DATA, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM.
11. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify Sortie Research against claims arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Service.
12. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms (for example, redistribution or scraping), if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. If we terminate without cause, we will refund the unused portion of any prepaid fees. You may stop using the Service at any time. Sections 6 through 11 and 14 survive termination.
13. Changes to the Service and these Terms
We may change the Service. We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we will notify you by email or in the Service before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the change.
14. Miscellaneous
These Terms, the Privacy Policy and the Investment Disclaimer are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. You may not assign these Terms without our consent. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.
